Hey Modern Nannies! Hope everyone hasn’t gone too stir crazy in this cold weather. We have had a couple days of cabin fever but for the most part the kids have been enjoying some inside games. Though we still go play outside it usually only lasts for about 15-20 mins but I have learned that kids need that, especially boys. Take the time to bundle everyone up (including you) and let them run around to get some energy out.
Here are some things we have done to stay warm and sane 😉
This soundtrack is beautiful and it has been really fun watching the kids put on “shows” with full out singing and dancing.
It has been imagination station here and it has been really sweet to watch them play together. “Mommy,Daddy,Baby” has been a hit with brothers and sisters. Creating cribs out of cardboard boxes, putting lovies to bed, feeding them, changing their diapers, etc.
The brothers have been on a “workers” kick lately. Tools..Tools..Tools!! The other day we were going crazy so we headed to Lowes to see real tools! That was a big hit and it kept their attention for a good hour and we could have stayed longer. We played in the mock kitchen set ups , looked at every drill and hammer, all the wood, we learned about bird feeders and their food. We talked to some real “worker” men and got to watch them drive their forklift carts around. We didn’t make it to the paint section but that could be a good place to practice colors. Lowe’s offers a free saturday Kid project to build and create. Check your local Lowes for their schedule.
It turned out to be a fun afternoon the other day when I pulled out the water color paints. I had no idea how that would go with 3 three year olds but they did great and had fun. It was nice to sit and paint with them while listening to the Ray Lamontagne pandora station.
The other day I was at a families house and they had this story telling game called “Tell me a story” by Eeboo’s . Its a box that includes 36 index cards with different images that you can put together to create your own story. Check out Eeboo’s website they have an amazing amount of different games and activities. We had a ball making up new stories! Here are three out of the six different creative story box’s they have.
